August can only mean one thing, heat and humidity. Although you never really get used to it, you do get used to dealing with it. But on the flip side of that, we have had plenty of rain this summer and we can't complain about that. When everything is this green in August we should consider ourselves lucky.
Greg has been busy mowing pastures as we rotate the cows. This can be a very time consuming job at ESF because of the steep terrain. On average we can mow about 3 acres an hour using a 15 ft mower. Slow pace none the less, but it is amazing how much nicer a pasture looks when it has just been freshly mown.
We pulled our bulls out of the cows this week (first week of August). Being removed from his ladies is not something that the bulls are a fan of.
I would like to thank UK, as well as Daniel Hayden with Haydens Farms, for donating the service of their cleanup bulls.
