After this past month of winter weather, it doesn't take much sunshine to make any day simply wonderful. I know everyone in Kentucky has been enjoying these past few days of warm sunshine. It might not last, but it sure does remind us that spring is right around the corner. I was at ESF last week and we took delivery of our new bulk feed tank. We have been getting our feed bagged for the past two years but now we will be able to purchase it in bulk. There was an existing bulk feed tank that we removed the auger from (because it didn't work) and converted it to a gravity flow tank to fill buckets. However it was still too small to hold the minimum bulk delivery so we purchased an additional tank to allow us the capacity to hold a full load. Here is the smaller tank as we were taking the auger off of. I ordered the new tank from Bischoff Enterprises in Bardstown, KY. They built the tank at their warehouse and delivered it fully assembled. Since there were four of us there we were able to slide the tank to the back of the trailer and simply lean it up and set it down onto the concrete pad. Didn't need the tractor after all. Once we got it upright they anchored it to the concrete, got the lid set, installed a bucket slide fill chute, and the gravity slide at the bottom. It didn't take them 30 minutes to get it fully functional. Now we have our buckets and both tanks functioning so we can feed the rest of our bagged feed, and the next shipment we get in will be bulk feed. I won't miss those bags.
